Democrats Projected to Control House as Seats Flip
Democrat Zach Dembo won Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District, flipping the seat vacated by Republican Andy Barr and adding a second Democrat to the state’s congressional delegation. CBS News projected Democrats would control the House. Democrat Jamie Ager defeated Republican Jennifer Balkcom in North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District, flipping the seat. In Colorado’s historically Republican 5th District, Democrat Jessica Killin led incumbent Jeff Crank 51.6% to 45.3% in incomplete returns, and the race remained too close to call as counting continued. Both Colorado candidates campaigned on affordability, and the race drew attention for a Democratic shift in the district and heavy negative advertising. In Illinois, Democrat Suzanne Ness appeared headed for another term in House District 66, leading Republican Laurie Parman 63% to 37% in McHenry County, while Kane County results remained incomplete.
