ExxonMobil Q3 Profit More Than Doubles to $15.4B

ExxonMobil reported third-quarter 2026 net income of $15.4 billion, more than double the $7.5 billion recorded a year earlier, while revenue rose about 33% to $113.2 billion. Higher oil prices and sharply stronger refining margins—amid disrupted global capacity—boosted results, particularly in Energy Products; upstream earnings fell from the prior quarter, production was broadly stable quarter to quarter, and chemical earnings declined. Adjusted earnings were $17.5 billion, with $25.7 billion in operating cash flow and $19.1 billion in free cash flow. The company returned $9.4 billion to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases and said it plans to buy back $20 billion of shares in 2027, subject to market conditions. For the first nine months of 2026, net income reached $34.1 billion, up from $22.3 billion in the same period a year earlier.

Those buybacks and dividends are solid but the Middle East disruptions driving prices higher will hurt everyone else.
Exxon's refining margins really carried the quarter even with lower production volumes.
