US Expands Iran Sanctions to India-Based Firms
The United States expanded its Economic Outcast sanctions to target four India-based companies—Portease Partners LLP, Sadashiva Overseas Ltd, PP Softtech Pvt Ltd, Prakrutees Infra Impex India Pvt Ltd—and three Indian nationals for allegedly moving Iranian petrochemical and petroleum products. The actions are part of a broader round hitting nearly 60 entities aimed at cutting Iran’s revenue across multiple sectors. India, economically important and reducing exposure to Iran, faces concerns about trade disruption and potential secondary sanctions affecting basmati exporters. China warned of retaliation if measures broaden, while Iran vowed retaliation and called the sanctions an "economic terrorist attack." US officials say the campaign will continue to widen its reach if other countries do not curb Tehran interactions.
