US Central Command says it disabled cargo ship in Gulf of Oman
U.S. Central Command says it disabled the St. Kitts-flagged cargo vessel M/V Huda in the Gulf of Oman with precision strikes after its crew repeatedly ignored warnings and attempted to breach the U.S. naval blockade of Iran. CENTCOM said the ship had called at an Iranian port and was trying to leave regional waters, and that its civilian crew was warned to evacuate the areas targeted. The command says blockade operations since July have redirected 147 compliant vessels and disabled five that refused orders, and that U.S. forces have also destroyed 10 Iranian oil tankers it links to an IRGC maritime network. Separately, Iranian state media reported explosions in several coastal locations, while the IRGC Navy claimed two oil tankers caught fire after striking mines; reports did not establish whether these events were connected to the U.S. strike.
