Gaza hospitals ration generator use amid fuel and oil shortages

Fuel, engine oil and spare-parts shortages are forcing Gaza hospitals to ration generator use, leaving patients at serious risk during power cuts and in sweltering wards. At Nasser Hospital, one of four generators is out of service and the remaining units are under strain, prompting rotating outages between buildings and dangerously extended maintenance intervals. The crisis also affects households, as soaring diesel and oil prices make neighborhood-generated electricity increasingly unaffordable. Hospital officials say repeated damage to electrical infrastructure, including the destruction of generators and a solar system, has compounded the emergency, while Israel says Palestinian militants used hospitals as bases.
