Trump Backs Netanyahu Ahead of Israeli Election

Donald Trump endorsed Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of Israel’s October 27 parliamentary election. Netanyahu urged voters to choose him, saying their partnership was needed to complete efforts to counter Iran; polls indicated neither his bloc nor the opposition was on track to win a parliamentary majority. Separately, reports citing intelligence sources said Iran had expanded support for Yemen’s Houthi movement, providing targeting intelligence, weapons, training and tactical guidance that contributed to territorial gains and more sophisticated attacks. The Houthis reportedly controlled Yemen’s coastline along the strategic Bab al-Mandeb Strait and targeted Saudi ships, energy infrastructure and airports. A recent strike on Riyadh’s airport reportedly killed at least 13 people.
