Israel releases nine settler-attack suspects to house arrest
Israeli authorities released nine of 10 suspects arrested over attacks by militant settlers on a U.S. journalist and European diplomats, placing them under house arrest; one suspect remains in custody as the investigation continues. The attacks came amid a broader rise in violence against Palestinian olive harvesters, and rights group Yesh Din says such assaults often go unpunished. Separately, Israel released nine Palestinian detainees from Gaza, who were taken by the International Committee of the Red Cross to a hospital for medical care. Palestinian officials and local reports said the men described torture and harsh detention conditions, amid broader human rights concerns over the treatment of Palestinians held in Israeli custody.
