Iran Sets Conditions for Hormuz Reopening

Iran has proposed restoring normal shipping through the Strait of Hormuz within two days, a shorter timeline than the seven days in a separate draft framework, but says it will do so only after the United States meets its conditions. Tehran's demands include sanctions relief, release of frozen assets, restored oil waivers, a reduced U.S. military presence, recognition of a shipping route agreed with Oman, and an end to the wider conflict, including Israeli operations in Lebanon. Qatar is facilitating indirect contacts and possible renewed negotiations, but no agreement has been reached and Washington has not publicly accepted Iran's proposal. A broader draft framework also describes reciprocal nuclear concessions, independent verification and a dispute-resolution process, with terms and the sequence of concessions still unsettled. President Donald Trump has said talks are progressing but the United States is in no hurry, while both sides have warned of further military action if diplomacy fails.
