No. 22 BYU defeated No. 8 Texas Tech 3-2 in Provo, ending the Red Raiders’ unbeaten start to the season and snapping an 18-match unbeaten streak. Texas Tech took an early lead through Taylor Zdrojewski, but BYU’s Mia Goettsche equalized before halftime and Mattyn Summers-Oviatt scored twice to put the Cougars ahead 3-1. Zdrojewski scored again late to bring Tech within one, but the Red Raiders could not find an equalizer. The loss came after Tech arrived on a three-game shutout run and in first place in the Big 12; BYU had been tied with several teams near the top of the conference standings.
