Florida Delays Quarterback Choice Before Georgia Rivalry
No. 17 Florida is delaying its quarterback decision for Saturday’s rivalry game against No. 3 Georgia in Atlanta. Coach Jon Sumrall says season-long starter Aaron Philo, who is recovering from a shoulder injury, and Tramell Jones Jr., who is managing wear-and-tear after leading Florida to a 27-24 upset of Texas in his first collegiate start, are both available and taking first-team practice reps. Sumrall says health, practice performance and each quarterback’s ability to operate the offense will shape his choice, which he expects to make around midweek; he has not ruled out using both. The 5-2 Gators could strengthen their College Football Playoff case with a win, while a loss would significantly damage their hopes.
