Miami tops first CFP rankings as Georgia, Utah follow and Indiana lands at No. 4
The College Football Playoff committee released its first 2026 rankings, placing Miami, Georgia and Utah in the top three and defending champion Indiana at No. 4. Kentucky is the highest-ranked SEC team at No. 6, with Texas and Ole Miss also in the top 10; Tennessee is No. 13, and Boise State is the only non-Power Four team ranked, at No. 25. The initial bracket would give Kentucky a home game against Notre Dame and pair Ole Miss with Texas. A pivotal Saturday slate includes Kentucky at Tennessee, Georgia at Ole Miss and Texas against Missouri, with playoff hopes at stake. Coaches said the rankings are an early snapshot and that the remaining games will determine the final field.
