No. 1 Miami Underdog at No. 4 Notre Dame
Notre Dame, ranked No. 11 in the College Football Playoff standings, defeated No. 1 Miami 31-24 in South Bend, improving to 8-1 and avenging last season’s loss that helped keep the Irish out of the playoff. Quarterback CJ Carr threw for 319 yards and three touchdowns without an interception as Notre Dame built a 24-3 lead before Miami rallied. The 8-1 Hurricanes, playing without injured receiver Malachi Toney, got three touchdown passes from Darian Mensah and twice pulled within a score. Safety Luke Talich made an interception and broke up a potential tying touchdown in the fourth quarter before Notre Dame secured the win with a late defensive stop. The victory boosts Notre Dame’s playoff prospects, while Miami remains in contention with an undefeated ACC record.
