LSU Favored Against Alabama in CFP Race
LSU has become a 4.5-point favorite over Alabama ahead of their Nov. 7 matchup, a notable shift in a rivalry Alabama has generally controlled. The game is consequential for both teams’ SEC and College Football Playoff hopes: LSU is seeking a signature win, while Alabama needs to rebound from a 26-10 loss at Tennessee in which it managed only 201 yards and committed four turnovers. Alabama’s offensive players say they must communicate better in the noise at Tiger Stadium, cut down on penalties and turnovers, and restore balance to the run game. Human SEC power rankings place Alabama around No. 5 to No. 7, while several computer models rate the Tide higher; LSU, meanwhile, has earned a strong position in power rankings and betting markets. LSU coach Lane Kiffin also suggested the Tigers’ dispute with the SEC over former NFL players may have contributed to Alabama’s daytime kickoff, and urged LSU fans to make the atmosphere a factor.
