Nebraska, Washington Set for Halloween Showdown

Nebraska hosts Washington for its Blackout game after consecutive narrow losses to Indiana and Oregon, seeking a win to regain momentum in the final month of the regular season. The Huskers expect defensive lineman Riley Van Poppel back, but Gunnar Gottula is out and linebacker Vincent Shavers is questionable; Washington’s Demond Williams is listed as probable, though coach Jedd Fisch has not announced whether Williams or backup Elijah Brown will start. The matchup also carries added recruiting significance, with more than 50 prospects expected in Lincoln, including several highly regarded 2028 targets. Once national-title contenders, both programs now face questions about their place in the Big Ten, making Saturday’s game an opportunity to show they can compete in the conference.
