Nebraska Fires Offensive Coordinator Holgorsen After Four Losses

Nebraska coach Matt Rhule fired offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen on Saturday, a day after the Cornhuskers scored 13 points in a loss to Illinois and extended their losing streak to four games. Nebraska started the season 5-0 but has since scored no more than 17 points in any game, prompting Rhule to say the offense’s plan and execution were not working. Co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Glenn Thomas will take over play-calling duties, while Rhule said he would continue evaluating the program and consider further changes. Holgorsen previously spent eight seasons as West Virginia’s head coach, compiling a 61-41 record and leading the Mountaineers to seven bowl appearances.
