Beasley Expected Guilty Plea in NBA Betting Case
Malik Beasley is expected to change his not-guilty plea and plead guilty in a federal case alleging he manipulated his performance for prop bets while playing for the Milwaukee Bucks in 2023–24. Court records and multiple reports indicate his intention to plead guilty after negotiations with prosecutors, though his lawyer has said no final decision has been made. Prosecutors allege the scheme involved bets tied to four games and grew out of gambling debts Beasley owed to former teammate Ed Davis, who has pleaded not guilty. Beasley and five others were charged; his former agent and Davis also maintain not-guilty pleas, while other defendants have pleaded guilty or are expected to. The federal investigation is among a wider probe into illegal sports betting involving current and former NBA players, and the investigation derailed Beasley’s planned return to Detroit.
