Dončić Leads Lakers Past Heat, Extends Scoring Run
Luka Dončić scored 42 points with 13 assists and seven rebounds as the Lakers beat the Miami Heat 138-117, improving to 6-2. The win came a night after he scored 45 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and recorded six assists and five steals in a 131-125 victory over Toronto; that performance was the first in NBA history to pair those scoring, rebounding, assist and steal totals with multiple three-pointers. Dončić has scored at least 37 points in five straight games and 40 or more in four of his last five. Austin Reaves added 27 points for Los Angeles, while Giannis Antetokounmpo had 30 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists for Miami, which fell to 2-5. Dončić’s play has fueled the Lakers’ strong start and renewed attention to his scoring records, following criticism of his defense and questions about the team’s championship prospects.
