The Oklahoma City Thunder will retire Russell Westbrook’s No. 0 jersey on Feb. 7, 2027, before a home game against the New York Knicks at Paycom Center, the team announced Nov. 2, 2026. Westbrook played 11 seasons with the club from 2008-2019, won the 2017 MVP after averaging 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds and 10.4 assists with a record 42 triple-doubles, and holds the NBA all-time triple-doubles mark at 209. He retired in August 2026 after 18 seasons and is the Thunder’s all-time leader in games played (821). Chairman Clayton Bennett said, “We are incredibly proud to retire Russell’s number,” adding he made a lasting mark on the city and state and will always be considered a member of the Oklahoma City community. GM Sam Presti said only great players leave a legacy built on the court and in the community, his mindset was relentless, and the number will be raised to the rafters forever. Westbrook called it “amazing; it’s a true blessing” for his family and the entire city, creating a legacy of the work put in, and said he looks forward to that night; team and media video showed him brought to tears. CONTESTED: Fox Sports reports Thunder points at 18,859 while ClutchPoints puts them at 18,857, and the outlets differ on franchise ranking order for some other counting stats. No other material facts are disputed. The ceremony remains set for the announced date.

Eleven seasons and all those triple doubles built something real here, so the jersey hanging in the rafters is overdue.
Retiring number zero in 2027 gives fans plenty of time to plan but it feels right for what he meant to Oklahoma City.
Westbrook stuck with the team through the tough years and that 2017 MVP season still stands out as the highlight.
