Thunder exercise McCain and Sorber options, decline Topić

The Oklahoma City Thunder exercised Jared McCain’s $6.8 million team option for 2027-28 and Thomas Sorber’s $5.1 million option, while declining Nikola Topić’s $7.5 million option. McCain, acquired from Philadelphia in 2026, has contributed as a bench scorer and could take on a larger role amid injuries to key Thunder players. Sorber, a 2025 first-round pick who has yet to make his NBA debut after multiple injuries and surgeries, will get another year to develop. Topić has played only 10 NBA games after injuries and cancer treatment, and is still recovering from back surgery; declining his option makes him set to become a free agent next summer.
