Grizzlies rout Jazz 123-103, Jerome scores 45
The Memphis Grizzlies opened the season with a 123-103 win over the Utah Jazz, powered by Ty Jerome’s career-high 45 points and a decisive 18-4 third-quarter run. Memphis also dominated the boards, outrebounding Utah 55-38 and collecting 15 offensive rebounds to the Jazz’s five. Utah played without Jusuf Nurkić, whose absence exposed a frontcourt rebounding weakness; Keyonte George led the Jazz with 22 points, while rookie Darryn Peterson scored nine and Cam Boozer struggled with his shooting. Jaren Jackson Jr., facing his former team for the first time since his trade to Utah, scored 15 points before fouling out.
