Knicks-76ers Opener Sets Record Ticket Prices

The New York Knicks’ Oct. 20 season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers at Madison Square Garden is commanding record-setting ticket prices, with reported cheapest seats ranging from about $1,100 to nearly $1,900 and some listings exceeding $32,000. The game features LeBron James’s Philadelphia debut and the Knicks’ first championship banner-raising and ring ceremony in 53 years; the 76ers also added Jaylen Brown in the offseason. TickPick reported an average ticket price of $1,894, compared with an average get-in price of about $43 for NBA games elsewhere. Demand also reflects the teams’ rivalry after the Knicks swept Philadelphia in the playoffs.
