Carlos Correa Ruled Out for Astros Season

Carlos Correa will miss the rest of the Houston Astros season. Joe Espada announced Tuesday that Correa is out after an MRI showed the tendon repaired in May 11 left-ankle surgery was not sufficiently healed. Correa participated in live batting practice and believed he might rejoin for the Tampa Bay series, then had soreness and inflammation for two to three days. Speaking Friday, Correa said the doctor told him the tendon was not mature enough. He added he was there every day from the moment the boot came off and can go to sleep knowing he tried his best. Correa will get another MRI in two months, pause hitting for about a month, and target a full return for spring training with no limitations. He hit .279 with three home runs and 16 RBIs in 32 games (.279/.369/.418). He was the No. 1 pick in the 2012 draft, returned to Houston from Minnesota last summer, and had shifted back to shortstop while Jeremy Peña was out. No contested claims found.
