The Giants traded second baseman Nate Furman to the Nationals for minor-league left-handed pitcher Tony Neubeck as San Francisco clears 40-man roster space ahead of a deadline to reinstate injured players. Furman, 25, hit .125 in 22 major-league games in 2026 and finished the season on the injured list with an oblique strain, after posting stronger numbers in Triple-A. He has limited experience outside second base, while Neubeck is a 23-year-old undrafted pitcher with only a handful of minor-league appearances.
Where do you stand?
What each side asserts, disputes — or leaves out entirely.
Whose framing of this story rings truest to you?
Neubeck looks like a useful lefty to add in the minors while Furman gives Washington a versatile guy they can develop with his options intact.
The Giants made the right call moving Furman after those rough 22 major league games since they needed the roster spot anyway.
