Walls Wins Rays’ First Infield Gold Glove

Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Taylor Walls won his first American League Gold Glove, becoming the first shortstop in franchise history to receive the award and the Rays’ first winner at any position since 2019. He led MLB shortstops with 21 Defensive Runs Saved in 2026, with teammates and coaches crediting his anticipation, positioning and instincts as key strengths. The honor recognizes an elite defender whose limited offensive production has often drawn criticism; Walls had previously been a finalist twice.
