Nationals agree to four-year, $23 million extension with Jacob Young

The Washington Nationals have agreed to a four-year, $23 million extension with center fielder Jacob Young, including an $8 million club option for 2031. The deal covers his arbitration years and his first year of free agency, keeping the 27-year-old with Washington through at least 2030. Young is among baseball’s top defensive center fielders and had his best offensive season in 2026, batting .252 with 10 home runs, a .707 OPS and 18 stolen bases. The extension makes Young a long-term piece as the Nationals work to build a competitive core.
