Brewers Win First World Series Title
The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays in five games to win their first World Series title, completing a postseason run after a franchise-record 103-win regular season. Tampa Bay had stayed alive with a 4-3, 12-inning walk-off win in Game 4, after which Milwaukee responded in the deciding game. Jacob Misiorowski pitched 5⅔ scoreless innings in Game 5 before leaving with an apparent ankle injury, and the Brewers’ bullpen closed out the win. The championship was Milwaukee’s first since its only previous World Series appearance in 1982, when it lost to St. Louis.
