Braves Activate Suarez After Three-Month Injury Absence

The Atlanta Braves activated right-handed reliever Robert Suárez from the 60-day injured list Wednesday after he missed more than three months with right elbow inflammation. Suárez, who last pitched for Atlanta on June 19, threw a scoreless inning for Triple-A Gwinnett during his rehab assignment and is expected to receive regular-season work before the postseason. He had posted a 0.56 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 26 strikeouts in 32 innings across 31 appearances before his injury, giving Atlanta a major boost for its bullpen. To make room, the Braves optioned 22-year-old right-hander Owen Murphy, who made five major-league appearances this season and struggled in his most recent outings.
