Padres Extend $23.15M Qualifying Offer to Morejon
The Padres have extended a one-year, $23.15 million qualifying offer to left-handed reliever Adrián Morejón, who has until Nov. 17 to accept or reject it. The offer is unusually large for a setup reliever, reflecting Morejón’s strong 2026 season, when he posted a 2.83 ERA and struck out 107 batters in 86 innings. Accepting would guarantee him a major salary and let him return to free agency next year; rejecting could open the door to a longer deal, though the Padres would be eligible for draft-pick compensation if he signs elsewhere. Morejón could also reject the offer and negotiate a new deal with San Diego, which has indicated interest in retaining him.
