Rays expect Rasmussen to start World Series
Tampa Bay ace Drew Rasmussen is set to start Game 2 of the World Series against Milwaukee, the team where he began his major-league career. The matchup has personal significance, but Rasmussen has said he feels affection for the Brewers rather than viewing the series as a revenge opportunity; he is focused on helping the Rays win. Milwaukee drafted Rasmussen in 2018, and he appeared in 27 games for the Brewers before they traded him to Tampa Bay in 2021 as part of the deal for shortstop Willy Adames. After moving into the Rays’ rotation, Rasmussen developed into a top starter, earning All-Star selections and finishing the regular season in strong form. He has also excelled this postseason, going 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA in three starts, as Tampa Bay looks to even the series after Milwaukee won Game 1, 3-2.
