Twins’ Buxton Set for Season-Ending Hip Surgery

Minnesota Twins All-Star center fielder Byron Buxton will undergo season-ending arthroscopic surgery on his right hip on Sept. 18 after landing on the injured list three times this season with recurring hip problems. Buxton, who has not played since Aug. 30, hit .254 with 25 home runs and 46 RBIs in 93 games. The Twins have not established a firm recovery timeline, but early indications are that he should be ready for the start of the 2027 season. The injury has troubled Buxton since 2021 and has repeatedly limited his availability throughout his career.
