Three-Homer Spence Keeps Astros Tied Atop AL West

Lucas Spence hit the first three home runs of his major league career as the Astros beat the Athletics 7-5, keeping Houston tied with Texas atop the AL West with three games remaining. Called up the day before, Spence gave Houston the lead with his second homer in the seventh and added another in the ninth; he became one of only three players to hit each of his first three career home runs in the same game. Christian Walker and Isaac Paredes also homered, while Miguel Ullola earned the win with three scoreless innings of relief. Houston starter Peter Lambert allowed four runs in 2⅔ innings, and his season ended with an 8-10 record and a 3.87 ERA after a career-high 166 innings.
