49ers Assess Injury Returns Ahead Commanders Game

After beating Seattle 32-29 to move to 5-0, the 49ers are managing a depleted receiving corps: Deebo Samuel is expected to miss several weeks with a hamstring injury, while Mike Evans is dealing with fractured ribs and new Achilles soreness. San Francisco opened Christian Kirk’s practice window as he works back from a calf injury, though his availability for Monday’s game against Washington is not assured. With several other receivers sidelined, Evans and Brandin Cooks are among the team’s available options. The 49ers also say defensive end Nick Bosa, defensive tackle James Thompson Jr. and fullback Kyle Juszczyk have a chance to return, but coach Kyle Shanahan said their status will be evaluated through the week and none is confirmed to play.
