Cowboys Cheerleaders Sue My Chemical Romance Over Uniforms
Pro Silver Star Ltd., which owns the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders brand, has asked a court for a temporary restraining order and injunction against My Chemical Romance over dancers wearing uniforms resembling the squad’s during the band’s theatrical “The Black Parade” concert at the Hollywood Bowl. The performance featured the costumed dancers carrying prop rifles in a staged firefight, where they were depicted being shot. Silver Star says the outfits infringe its trademark, harm the brand’s reputation, and have led some concertgoers and online viewers to mistake the performers for real cheerleaders. The company says it asked the band to stop using the uniforms but is not seeking changes to the show’s music, story, politics, or choreography; My Chemical Romance had not publicly responded in the reports provided.
