Chiefs plan to place Simmons on injured reserve
The Kansas City Chiefs placed left tackle Josh Simmons on injured reserve after his recovery from a bulging, herniated disc in his lower back plateaued. The injury was discovered after he reported calf discomfort in August; team officials said the disc’s unusually high position complicated the case. Simmons consulted a spine specialist, and the Chiefs continued rehabilitation rather than pursuing surgery after follow-up imaging showed improvement. He has not played this season, and under the injured-reserve designation he could return for Kansas City’s Week 11 game.
