Eagles bench Tanner McKee to start Joe Milton against Giants
The Philadelphia Eagles are replacing Tanner McKee with Joe Milton at quarterback for Sunday’s Week 9 game against the New York Giants, reversing coach Nick Sirianni’s earlier support for McKee. The move follows three losses in McKee’s three starts and extends the Eagles’ losing streak to six games; McKee took over after Jalen Hurts was sidelined for the season with blood clots. Philadelphia hopes Milton can spark an offense that has struggled to sustain drives and score, though he has yet to play for the Eagles. In five career appearances with New England and Dallas, Milton has completed 37 of 53 passes for 424 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, and has also contributed as a runner. He joined Philadelphia from the Cowboys’ practice squad, and Sunday is expected to be his first NFL start.
