49ers Reunite With Buckner in Trade With Colts
The Indianapolis Colts traded three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the San Francisco 49ers for a 2027 fourth-round pick, reuniting him with the team that drafted him seventh overall in 2016. The deal followed Indianapolis’ trade of guard Quenton Nelson to Seattle and came after the Colts fired general manager Chris Ballard and fell to 2-5. Buckner has recorded four sacks and 31 tackles in seven games and is expected to bolster a 49ers defensive line weakened by injuries and limited pass-rush production. San Francisco also expects edge rusher Nick Bosa to return from injury as it pursues another Super Bowl run.
