Steelers elevate two receivers before Saints game
The Steelers made roster adjustments ahead of their game against the Saints, including bringing safety Elliott back into the lineup after his return from injury and elevating receivers Brandon Johnson and Brandon Smith; veteran receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling also joined the practice squad. Separately, Pittsburgh’s return game has struggled early in the season, prompting criticism of the team’s repeated difficulty finding effective return specialists, including fourth-round rookie Kaden Wetjen. The Steelers’ potential 2027 quarterback options also look less certain than expected, as several highly touted prospects have faltered, though Trinidad Chambliss, Drew Mestemaker and Darian Mensah remain promising candidates.
