Cynthia Miller, wife of Detroit Lions broadcaster Dan Miller, dies at 63

Cynthia "Cindy" Miller, wife of Detroit Lions radio play-by-play announcer Dan Miller, died October 10, 2026. Pride of Detroit and Yahoo Sports reported her age as 63; EssentiallySports, citing Lions on SI, reported 62. She and Dan shared 33 years of marriage and four children—Sammi Burdette, Rikki Miller, Tony Miller, and Robbie Miller—and grandchildren Daphne and Cecilia. Jason Benetti filled in for Dan Miller on the Lions radio broadcast of the Week 5 game against the Arizona Cardinals when the announcement was made. Cindy attended every Lions home game from the fifth row behind the team's bench. Griffin Funeral Home said some of her best memories were the two 2024 home playoff games she attended with her daughters, and that her family knows she will be there in spirit when the Lions win it all. A University of Maryland Class of 1985 graduate, she worked ten years as a news producer, met Dan at Westwood One Radio Network, and later taught preschool for five years. Their wedding took place during a historic snowstorm that blanketed the DMV with 20 inches of snow. Dan Miller said his wife loved football and attended all Lions games. On Saturdays off in the fall, he recalled, his daughters came downstairs asking which college games were on, sat around the TV with computers on their laps, and asked what was on at 3:30. "It was heaven for me," he said. Her obituary said she had a way of lighting up any room she entered.
