Panthers defeat Eagles 25-14 as Philadelphia drops fourth straight
The Carolina Panthers beat the Philadelphia Eagles 25-14 on the road, improving to 3-2 and remaining atop the NFC South as the Eagles fell to 2-4 and lost their fourth straight. Carolina’s defense pressured backup quarterback Tanner McKee from the opening play and largely contained an injury-depleted Philadelphia offense, though the Eagles briefly rallied with a long first-half drive capped by Dameon Pierce. Bryce Young connected with Tommy Tremble for two touchdowns, but the Panthers’ offense was inconsistent against Philadelphia’s defense. Carolina also committed a franchise-record amount of penalty yardage, and coaching decisions and coverage penalties kept the game closer than it might have been. Philadelphia’s injury problems deepened when defensive end Nolan Smith left with a concussion, while Carolina benefited from Taylor Moton’s return and a strong special-teams contribution from Trevor Etienne.
