Seahawks Limit Chiefs to Three Points
Seattle beat Kansas City 20-3 on Sunday night, handing the Chiefs their first loss of the season. The Seahawks’ defense held Patrick Mahomes to 165 passing yards, no touchdowns and one interception, limited Kansas City to 213 total yards and 11 first downs, and kept the Chiefs out of the red zone; the three points matched Kansas City’s fewest in the Mahomes era. Seattle controlled third downs, converting 11 of 16 compared with Kansas City’s 3 of 11, while injuries to key Chiefs receivers and two missed field-goal attempts by Harrison Butker further hampered Kansas City. Kenneth Walker III, a former Seahawk and the NFL’s leading rusher entering the game, had 36 yards on 14 carries. Sam Darnold passed for 257 yards and a touchdown without being sacked as Seattle rebounded from a difficult stretch, and the Seahawks extended their streak of games without allowing a 100-yard rusher to 36.
