Eminem Selects Wu-Tang Clan to Headline Lions Thanksgiving Halftime Show
The Detroit Lions announced on Nov. 1 that Wu-Tang Clan will headline the Thanksgiving Day Classic Halftime Show powered by Verizon on Thursday, Nov. 26, when the Lions face the Chicago Bears at Ford Field in Detroit. The game is the Lions' 87th annual Thanksgiving Day contest, kicking off at 1 p.m. ET on CBS. Eminem and Paul Rosenberg are executive producers in the second year of a multi-year partnership and help select the performers. Antonio Cipriano will sing the national anthem. Paul Rosenberg said, "We often like to do things that are both exciting and unexpected. A Wu-Tang Clan Thanksgiving performance in Detroit certainly fits that description!" and "Both Eminem and myself have been Wu fans since the early '90s along with a whole generation of Detroit football fans, and we are honored to bring them to this year's stage." Wu-Tang Clan originated in Staten Island in the early 1990s; members include RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, U-God, Masta Killa, Inspectah Deck, Cappadonna, and the late Ol' Dirty Bastard. After the 1993 debut Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), the group released eight studio albums, three quadruple-platinum. The show aligns with the farewell tour Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber and a set 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction.
