Patriots’ Byard set for Chicago reunion with Bears
Patriots safety Kevin Byard is drawing on what he remembers from two seasons with the Bears to help New England prepare for Thursday’s game in Chicago, though he says he has no hard feelings and is excited to return to Soldier Field. Byard led the NFL in interceptions with seven last season and earned his third first-team All-Pro selection before Chicago let him leave in free agency. Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, who practiced alongside Byard for two years, praised the veteran’s speed, film study and understanding of opposing routes, while saying the matchup will challenge Chicago’s passing game. Byard has also warned New England that Bears coach Ben Johnson may have some unexpected plays ready for the prime-time contest; both teams enter at 4-2.
